Sold under various trade names such as Viagra, Revatio and so on, Viagra, generically known as Sildenafil citrate, is a popular drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Developed and marketed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the drug works by inhibiting cGMP specific phosphodiesterase type 5, an enzyme that administers blood flow in the penis.
